Professional learning, student experiences at the Stratford Festival, and ongoing collaboration through CISO Connect.

The Drama Educators' Network attends an annual Professional Learning Day each fall at the Stratford Festival. This enriching experience offers professional learning through a drama lens and is open to all member schools, including those not participating in the CISDF Drama Festival. The day includes a hosted dinner and the opportunity to attend one of several performances at North America’s largest classical repertory theatre company.

Past workshop sessions with Stratford teaching artists have included fostering students’ ideas and supporting the development of new plays in the classroom, as well as working with a choreographer and creative movement director to explore innovative approaches to staging.

This meeting precedes the annual CIS Ontario Drama Festival (CISDF) held each fall for middle school students and each spring for senior school students, also at the Stratford Festival.

Alongside the CIS Ontario team, Drama Professional Learning events and Drama Student Experiences are planned in conjunction with Lois Adamson, Director of Education at the Stratford Festival; Katherine Laing, Education Associate at the Stratford Festival; and a dedicated group of CISDF drama educator volunteers.

Drama educators at our CIS Ontario member schools are invited to join the members-only Drama Educators' Network on CISO Connect, our member community platform. Drama educators can connect through the dedicated Network Hub, joining over 130 drama peers for collaboration and shared learning. The network is led by Brendon Allen, Drama Coordinator at Upper Canada College. If you do not have a login, please submit our Membership Form.
