Music Educators' Network Fall Meeting & Professional Learning Day

CIS Ontario Music Educators' Network Professional Learning Day & Annual Fall Meeting, takes place at Hillfield Strathallan College in Hamilton on September 24, 2024. from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

This year, we will review and sight-read selected music for CISMF 2025. This will be a great opportunity to collaborate with your colleagues while exploring the repertoire in a fun and engaging way. 

A delicious lunch will be provided to all attendees, offering an opportunity for informal networking and collaboration.

Keynote Speaker
Dr. Crystal Sellers Battle

This event promises to be a day of enriching experiences, professional learning, and networking within the vibrant community of music educators. We are particularly excited to announce that Dr. Crystal Sellers Battle, Associate Dean of Equity and Inclusion at Eastman School of Music will be joining us for a keynote session. 

Dr. Crystal Sellers Battle previously served as the Dean of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion and Chief Diversity Officer at Juniata College in Huntingdon, PA before coming to Eastman in June 2022. In her role, Crystal works to advance programs and policies that promote mindsets and behaviors that value and support equity, diversity, and inclusion. She co-founded DIEMA (Diversity, Inclusion and Equity in Musical Arts) Consulting Group LLC, to help schools of music address DEI related challenges and initiatives. She has presented to several groups around the country about DEI in music including the Northeastern Regional Conference of College Music Society. Crystal holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in voice performance with a specialization in Singing Health from The Ohio State University and a Bachelor of Music from Bowling Green State University, a Master of Music degree from Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University and a Postgraduate Diploma from Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, UK.
