CITE, the Conference of Independent Teachers of English, supports the teaching and learning of English, Media Studies and Drama at its member schools. We do so through two complementary projects: an annual professional conference for teachers of English, and the publication of INCITE , an anthology of student writing and visual art. CITE also facilitates English curriculum leaders meetings, and provides a social and professional network for literacy teachers.

CITE Conference 2023

We are pleased to announce that our keynote speaker at this year’s CITE Conference will be Chelsea Vowel! A prominent Metis author and speaker, Chelsea’s recent work, Buffalo is the New Buffalo, has been described as “Metis Futurism.” The focus of the conference is looking at the future through “rose coloured glasses”, with joyous speculation, and we are excited to hear Chelsea’s insights into this topic.

Our first in-person conference in three years will take place at Appleby College in Oakville, on Saturday, April 22nd and promises to be a day of compelling conversation, workshops, and opportunities for renewing real connections between CIS Ontario colleagues.

Stay tuned for more details and registration. Join the CITE Network on CISO Connect.
