Role Overview

St. Mildred’s-Lightbourn School has an opening for a full-time contract as a Middle School Teacher (Homeroom, Mathematics, and Science). The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Head of Middle School, Assistant Head of Middle School, and Middle School teaching team to create and facilitate a program that balances traditional and innovative teaching practices, including the creation and facilitation of Project Based Learning experiences for our students. The ideal candidate will have qualifications and experience facilitating an enriched Ontario Ministry of Education Grade 8 Science and Grade 9 Mathematics program. 

The Middle School at SMLS strives to provide a challenging and engaging program that is inspired by the Ontario curriculum. We intentionally seek and explore connections between subject areas, within subjects, and to the real world. We provide a nurturing environment, allowing us to focus on the social, emotional, and academic well being of our girls. Our inquiry-based programming aims to engage the interests and foster the natural curiosity of our students, and develop skills for lifelong learning. We guide our students to ask and explore answers to questions that are relevant to their 21st century world. We encourage our girls to be informed and active citizens of their local and global communities.
