CIS Ontario Member School: The Mabin School
The Mabin School

With the retirement of its long-serving Principal in June 2024, the Mabin School is seeking a new,
passionate leader to join a team of dedicated educators and changemakers. Located in the heart of
central Toronto, Mabin is a vibrant, progressive, independent JK to Grade 6 school with a deeply
committed community and an irreplaceable sense of joy.

As Canada's first Ashoka Changemaker School, Mabin is committed to social justice and is recognized for instilling a culture of teamwork, leadership, problem-solving, and, most importantly, empathy in its community. The School's mission is to create the next generation of original thinkers, adaptive leaders, and caring citizens. With 150 students, Mabin is small enough to honour the individual child and big enough to provide an exceptional academic experience with balanced opportunities in science, the arts, and athletics. The new Principal will join an institution that is well-governed, financially secure, staffed by highly motivated and committed teachers and staff, and supported by a community of parents who value education and support Mabin in every way.

The Principal is accountable to the Board of Directors and is responsible for the School's academic and administrative leadership. The new Principal will be a respected educational leader with the ability to provide inspiration and direction to the entire community. They will have significant administrative experience, ideally earned in a junior school environment, a deep commitment to inquiry-based learning, and a passion for educating the whole and happy child. Above all, the new Principal will be a person of character and strong values, endowed with the warmth, empathy, openness, and authenticity that allows them to connect with all members of the Mabin community.
