Reports to: Head of Junior School 

Education:

  • Bachelor of Education, Ontario Teacher Certification 
  • Experience: 3+ years experience teaching at Junior grade level  
  • Experience developing/implementing Project/Inquiry Based Learning 

Additional Qualifications (asset) 

  • Experience in a non-profit setting (asset) 
  • Experience in an Independent School (asset)

Role Overview 

SMLS is seeking a Junior School (JS) Teacher.  The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Head of Junior School, Assistant Head of Junior School, and Junior School teaching team (JS1-JS5), and will be responsible for the development and delivery of creative and innovative inquiry based programming, while meeting the individual needs of all students in the classroom. 

The successful candidate is enthusiastic, articulate and a creative teacher who communicates with ease and confidence. You offer a learning community that allows different learners to thrive and prosper. You are comfortable engaging in innovative and diverse programming. You are a critical thinker who demonstrates initiative, integrity and attention to detail. You are an educator who never stops learning and continually seeks best practices in girls’ education to enrich your teaching.
