SJK is seeking a highly motivated and committed accounting person to join our Finance Team. The Finance Assistant-Payables is a key member of the Finance team and reports to the CFO. This role will have primary responsibility for accounts payable and payroll processing with opportunity for further growth. The individual must be able to interact with various members of the SJK community, colleagues, parents, vendors, teachers and others.
Start Date: January 9, 2023
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience
CPA designation is an asset
Advanced proficiency in Excel
Working knowledge of Google Suite of products and Blackbaud accounting software is desirable.
Advanced knowledge of accounting systems, budgets and internal controls.
Independent school experience is an asset
Processing monthly accounts payable in a timely manner, including cheque runs and expense reimbursements
Ensuring school policies are followed for expense reimbursement and ensuring invoices are charged to the appropriate general ledger account
Accurately calculate, post and manage accounting data
Reconcile various accounts payable and general ledger accounts at month end
Ability to provide additional accounting support as required
A positive, enthusiastic, and willingness approach to learning
Detail oriented, attention to accuracy, strong reconciliation skills
Knowledge of payment regulations, HST and payroll taxes
Effective communication with vendors, parents, and colleagues
A dynamic, dedicated team player with a strong work ethic
Willingness to learn, and commitment to personal and professional growth and development
