Communications Coordinator
(12-month full-time contract, with potential of permanent employment)
Trinity College School is currently searching for a Communications Coordinator to join the communications department. Reporting to the Director of Communications, the successful incumbent will be responsible for the management of social media channels and the production of content needed to support the School’s communications efforts. This is a one-year contract position, with possibility of extension, and a March 2022 start date.
Responsibilities
Social Media Channel Management
- Overseeing the continual enhancement of social media channels and tools to best represent the School’s brand and strategic goals
- Posting and uploading daily to identified social media platforms; monitoring and continuing dialogue on the School’s social media sites
- Demonstrating pride and responsibility for overseeing the School’s overall social media profile; educating and training others in the best practice use of social media tools
- Identifying news and opportunities that can further our outreach and start the TCS conversation
- Researching new social media platform and tool trends to determine if they support TCS’s social media goals
- Identifying and building social media connections (i.e. influencers) in relevant online communities
- Tracking and measuring online platforms, tools and content to determine effectiveness and support strategic change and/or enhancement recommendations
Content Production
- Supporting online news flow by utilizing strong writing and editing skills
- Identifying photo-worthy opportunities; photographing, editing, uploading images daily
- Video recording, editing, producing and uploading select news content and promotion-specific endeavours
- Working collaboratively with others on campus who utilize digital media
- Assisting in the supervision of student communications stewards
Departmental Support
- Contributing to website SEO maintenance, content production, media gallery management
- Proactively supporting media engagement; writing media releases
- Assisting in issues management monitoring and tracking
- Supporting the department’s overall goals by contributing as needed
Position Requirements
- Completed post-secondary degree/diploma in a related field (Communications degree preferred)
- Experience using social media in an institutional or business setting
- Demonstrated experience in a variety of social media platforms (particularly YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn)
- Experience working with photo and video production tools and editing software
- Strong writing and editing skills
- Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced environment
- Possess an understanding of media monitoring and online analytics
- Comfort working in a Mac environment
- A willingness to work with a wide variety of individuals in the sourcing of social media content; the ability to be on campus five days per week
- A desire to be a part of a collaborative team work environment
- Must be mature, inquisitive and creative, as well as comfortable with, and interested in, social media developments
Work Conditions
- Five days per week, on-campus
- Available to respond to time-sensitive matters after hours (remotely), as needed
