Classroom Assistant – Toddler/Children’s House 1

(This is a One Year Contract Position and will commence late August 2024)

The successful candidate will be an individual who has previous experience working with young children (18 months to 3 years), and will be fully involved in the life of the school, managing a range of duties. This is a one (1) year contract.  This position will commence late August 2024. 

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Supporting the needs of young children – social, emotional and physical
  • Supporting classroom teachers in the effective running of a classroom
  • Supervising children
  • Assisting with toileting, napping, food preparation and serving
  • Outdoor supervision
  • Preparation of the environment for various needs
  • Record keeping
  • Participating in faculty and department meetings and activities
  • Establishing good relationships with teachers, staff and parents across the school community

Qualifications, Experience and Attributes:

  • Experience working with young children (8 months to 3 years)
  • Montessori Assistant Course and/or RECE an asset
  • An understanding of the Child Care Early Years Act (CCEYA) an asset
  • A proven ability to collaborate and contribute as a team player
  • A demonstrated work ethic and a commitment to upholding the highest professional standards
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and busy environment
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency in a technologically rich school environment: skills in Google Applications are considered an asset
  • A current Vulnerable Sector Screening Police Record Check
  • Current Standard First Aid certification, Level C
