Business Manager

Position Description

This position reports to the Head of School and interacts with all members of the KBS community. In this role, you will manage and execute the functions of our business office.

The key experiences sought include the following:

  • Familiarity with not-for-profit fund accounting standards would be an asset

  • Ability to manage accounts payables including cheque runs – posting cheques/cash distributions, preparing and monitoring aging report

  • Ability to manage accounts receivable including generating invoices, reviewing payments received, recording deposits and monitoring aging

  • Must be able to prepare and manage an annual budget with input from internal departments

  • Must be able to prepare monthly bank reconciliations for multiple bank accounts and prepare monthly financial statements and cash flow statements

  • Familiarity with deferred revenue calculations

  • Familiarity with preparing charitable tax receipts

  • Familiarity with processing payroll for salary and hourly employees

  • Expense reports experience

  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office products required (specifically Microsoft Excel) and Google Cloud platform

  • Advanced knowledge of Quickbooks Desktop and Online required

  • Prepare year-end reconciliations, T4’s and related reports & summaries for audit

  • Regular interaction with parents, directors and internal staff regarding accounting

  • Administration of pensions  - both OTPP and RRSP plans

  • Producing or overseeing the production of family accounts

  • Monthly financial statements 

  • Payroll administration and oversight

  • Post secondary education

  • Adaptable and willing to learn new technology 

  • Experience with Google GSuite, WindowsOS and ChromeOS

  • Self starter, team/results-oriented, flexible, proactive

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and organizational skills

  • Candidate must be organized – need to track registration forms/discounts/monthly statement communications.

  • Proven ability to exercise good judgment and handle confidential information

  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to remain flexible

  • Effective team player; and ability to work independently and take initiative

  • Has a growth mindset
