ASSOCIATE TEACHER AND EXTENDED DAY ARTS PROGRAM COORDINATOR 

St. Clement’s School is currently looking for an Associate Teacher and Extended Day Arts Program Coordinator to join our School for the 2023-2024 School Year commencing August 28, 2023, with a New Staff Orientation Day on August 24, 2023. This is a one year position, with the possibility of extension. The Extended Day Arts Program falls under the Junior School reporting to the Head of Junior School. As an Associate Teacher, you will work with classroom teachers to help support student learning and achievement through individual, small group, and whole class instruction, and will assist in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students. This is a full-time role with hours being:

  • Mon-Tues & Thurs, Fri: 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (or when the last student departs) 

  • Wed: 7:30 am to 6:00 pm, with time off mid-day

Hours may fall outside of these times occasionally, for example on Professional Development days, for supply teaching or co-curricular coverage or for School events. The role is a great opportunity to gain experience working and learning with a collaborative and passionate team of educators.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervising the Extended Day Program every school day from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. and slightly later if required
  • Supervising the Grade 4-6 Study Hall
  • Coordinating the student volunteers who work in the program and supervising the Senior Student who is the student leader for Extended Day
  • Implementing interesting activities and special events for the program
  • Liaising with parents
  • Ordering all supplies for running the program including for healthy snacks (groceries, games, craft supplies, etc.)
  • Managing the Extended Day budget
  • Tracking and submitting monthly student charges
  • Planning and supervising Late Start Wednesday Program from 7:30 a.m. to 9:15 a.m.
  • Coordinating Junior School co-curricular activities with Director of Student Life
  • Preparing and facilitating a PBL for Junior School Flextime
  • Participating in Professional Development opportunities where possible and
  • Providing coverage for absent teachers.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, AND ATTRIBUTES OF OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • A post-secondary undergraduate degree, Honours preferred
  • Ontario Teacher Qualifications in Primary / Junior division
  • Certificate of Qualification and Registration with the OCT
  • Instructional ability, recognizing and working with individual learning styles
  • Ability to manage and track a small budget
  • Competency in: Word, Excel or other database software, and Outlook
  • Approachable and creative with strong classroom management skills
  • High levels of energy with a patient, caring approach
  • Supportive team player who is adaptable and able to learn quickly
  • Represent St. Clement’s School in a professional and positive manner
  • Capable of working with minimal supervision
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential, as is the ability to handle confidential material and situations with discretion and sensitivity; and
  • Clear criminal record check is required as a condition of employment.
