Assistant Head – Senior School
Albert College is a Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12 day and boarding school situated on the shores of Lake Ontario in the heart of the Bay of Quinte region, with easy access to Toronto, Ottawa, and Montreal. The College’s 300 students learn and grow in an international and close-knit environment. The respected incumbent will be completing her 14th and final year of leading the Senior School; this has created an opportunity to welcome a new Assistant Head – Senior School in the summer of 2023.
The Assistant Head – Senior School, reports directly to the Head of School and, as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, will take an active role in the overall leadership of the College. The Assistant Head – Senior School, is responsible for overseeing the following: all day-to-day academic, co-curricular, and boarding programs, curriculum development, student health services, scheduling, budget management, student discipline and concerns, and home-school communication. The Assistant Head – Senior School works in cooperation with all faculty and staff to promote the College and develop relationships with our prospective, current and past families, and the wider community.
We are seeking an Assistant Head – Senior School with demonstrated curricular and school-wide leadership experience at the senior school level, coupled with a strong educational foundation that includes a comprehensive understanding of the Ontario curriculum, a recognized teaching license, and an advanced degree. Advanced degrees and administration certification may include M.Ed., PQP, SOQP, and/or CAIS LI certification. The Assistant Head – Senior School has strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize and delegate, a high level of initiative, an appreciation for Albert’s 5 ‘A’s, and knows the value of an independent school education. A good listener and an excellent communicator, the candidate has a proven track record of working well with a dedicated and high-functioning team and of supporting, inspiring, and leading others.
This appointment is effective August 1, 2023; however, the successful incumbent will be expected to begin their orientation to the position at Albert College for several days during the spring 2023 term.
