Aftercare Assistant

The Role

The Aftercare Assistant works in our after school Aftercare Program. The Aftercare Assistant, in conjunction with the Aftercare Supervisor, offers JK-Grade 6 program supervision and homework assistance within a caring and nurturing environment. In addition, the Aftercare Assistant incorporates a variety of indoor and outdoor activities from 3:15 to 6:15 p.m.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

• Experience working with school age children and familiarity with age; appropriate activities for a wide range of early elementary aged students;

• Exhibits caring rapport with students;

• A positive attitude and ability to maintain a calm and professional demeanour;

• Alignment with Montcrest’s mission, vision, and values;

• Work well as part of a team. 

Aftercare Assistants must have:

• An empathetic approach and patient demeanour

• Demonstrated ability to program plan and implement age appropriate activities

• Ability to take initiative and follow directions, as required

Aftercare Assistants must be:

• Passionate about working with children

• Professional, positive, approachable, creative and flexible

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Providing a caring, stimulating and inclusive environment

• Ensuring the safety and security of students in the aftercare program

• Assisting children with their homework

• Communicating with parents, students and school staff in a timely manner
