Culminating Task Facilitators

Branksome Hall is seeking six short-term, part-time facilitators who are required to deliver off timetable programming to Grade 7 students. The Grade 7 Culminating Task is an innovative design challenge in conjunction with residence from the local Rekai Centre (a long term care facility in the city).
Successful candidates will compensated in the form of an honorarium.
Who are we looking for?
Facilitators are an integral part of this task, in delivering lessons and providing support and guidance to the Grade 7 students with their innovative designs. Facilitators are required from June 3-11, 2019 from 8:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each week day. In addition, facilitators will need to make themselves available for a training session, on May 22, 2019 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. The ideal candidate is a creative problem-solver, can motivate students to take risks while working through challenges and has a ‘tinkering’ mindset.
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
- Presenting lessons;
- Facilitating student through the design cycle;
- Supervising students at recess and on off-site trips;
- One-on-one student support on assignments;
- Preparing documents;
- Assessing student work and approaches to learning skills.
The students will be working on an interdisciplinary design challenge where they could be working with robots, construction materials, and textiles or designing innovative programing. No previous experience with these materials is necessary, but would be considered an asset.
Candidates should have graduated, or be in the process of graduating from, a teacher’s education program, preferably with a focus on the intermediate years.
The ideal candidate will have a background in two of the following subject areas: Science, Math, Social Sciences, or Design.
