The Role

St. John’s-Kilmarnock School is looking for dynamic people who have a keen interest in working with and supporting our boarding high school students at our co-ed residence in Waterloo, ON. The successful candidates will be committed to building a positive rapport with all our students, be energetic and interested in creating and delivering a boarding program, be able to provide supervision for our boarding students and be great team members.

This is a ten month live-in position with room and board provided plus a small salary. Boarding Assistants will participate in staff orientation during the last week of August 2019. Boarding Assistants must be available to commit to working a flexible schedule of day, evenings, most weekends and some mid-term breaks/long weekends as assigned.

Typical candidates have experience as a teacher, camp counsellor, outdoor educator or coach. Members of the OCT will have the opportunity for some supply teaching at SJK.

Key Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Provide social, emotional care for Grade 9 to 12 students

  • Perform regular duties at the boarding residence on a rotation basis

  • Participate in creating vibrant weekend programming

  • Attend collaborative staff meetings and professional development
