Residential Staff – Senior School Girls

Situated in prestigious Rockcliffe Park, Ottawa, Ashbury College is currently seeking a Residential Staff to contribute to the overall quality of the school and boarding life for 51 Canadian and international girls in grades 9-12 who board in our Heather Gillin Residence.
Working in tandem with the Head of Gillin Residence, and collaborating with a team of resident staff, our student services group, and other faculty, you will actively contribute to the ongoing success of the Gillin boarders, as well as the 58 additional male and female students boarding at Ashbury College. Your responsibilities will include providing for the care and well-being of the Gillin Residence boarding students for one evening per week and one weekend per month. You will also be responsible for supervising the ongoing activities of student residents, planning and supervising weekend and special events, coaching sports or coordinating clubs, attending weekly house and residential teacher meetings, and potentially leading a Teacher Advisory Group.
You will also have the opportunity to teach; providing class coverage for absent faculty on a scheduled basis.
As you will need to be accessible and provide ongoing support to boarding students, you are expected to reside in a self-contained apartment in Gillin Residence. Room and Board is included over the course of the academic year, and housing may be extended into the summer.
Teaching certification and/or experience leading boarding programs plus prior teaching experience is required, as is a history of adding to the full life of the school. Teaching experience for all disciplines will be considered, with Math and Science preferred. Experience or interest in coaching football, rugby, soccer, basketball, track and field, and/or volleyball; plus, bilingualism, and international experience, are highly desirable.

This appointment is effective late August 2019 for an annual term renewable for up to three years.
