Global Studies Program

Our Global Studies program, available to all girls from JS2 through to Grad Year, engages students with the world beyond the walls of our school.  Our program immerses students in authentic, real-world experiences that enrich their academic knowledge and have application across a broad range of curricula, while remaining purposefully geared toward character development and nurturing of personal life skills.

Role Overview

St. Mildred’s-Lightbourn School has a one year opening for a Global Studies Teacher (68%). The successful candidate will be responsible for the development and delivery of creative, innovative and comprehensive programming within the local and broader community.

The successful candidate is enthusiastic, articulate and a creative teacher who communicates with ease and confidence amongst a variety of different cultural and socio-economic groups within the local community and beyond.  You offer a learning community that allows different learners to thrive and prosper. You are comfortable engaging in innovative and diverse programming. You are a critical thinker who demonstrates initiative, integrity and attention to detail. You are an educator who never stops learning and continually seeks best practices in girls’ education to enrich your teaching.  You have a passion for experiential education and character development. You have an understanding of risk mitigation practices, specifically on experiential education experiences.

We are seeking a dynamic, exemplary educator with the following key qualities and a willingness to continue to develop and grow as a professional:

  • Strong planning skills and proven ability to create engaging, differentiated programming and assessments that challenge students with a variety of learning styles, interests, and strengths

  • Highly professional collaboration and communication skills to be applied with all stakeholders including students, parents, teachers, other staff, and administration

  • Leadership skills – desire to seek opportunities that go above and beyond to contribute to a dynamic academic and co-curricular learning environment

  • An interest in continuing to develop community relationships and service learning

  • Professionalism to work with local workplaces who annually support our students with the professional internship
