Rosseau Lake College co-hosts Missinaibi River High School Credit Canoe Trip

Earn 3 Ontario high school credits while on a 31-day canoe trip down the famous Missinaibi River!

Open to any Canadian or international student entering grade 11 or 12 (or equivalent) in September 2026, this trip is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

While canoeing the full-length of the Missinaibi (one of Ontario's most historic and awe-inspiring rivers, a bucket list destination for canoe trippers all over the world) students will earn Grade 11 Regional Geography, Grade 11 Canadian Literature, and Grade 12 Interdisciplinary Studies.

Some of the most meaningful learning happens when students step beyond the classroom and into experiences that challenge, connect, and transform them. Merging wilderness travel by canoe with real academic learning, this is education beyond the ordinary. Join this unique trip to have the experience of a lifetime and to develop a real, interwoven understanding of geography, history, literature, and ecology through an authentic lived adventure! No prior canoeing or camping experience is necessary, as the trip is designed to teach students everything they need to know along the way. Coming home, students will have mastered new skills, expanded their worldview, and collected a lifetime of stories to tell.

This summer program is offered through a partnership between Headwaters Wilderness Program and Rosseau Lake College (RLC), working together in a collaboration that celebrates land-based learning, character development, and education beyond the classroom. Reflecting RLC's belief that challenge, immersion, and connection to place are essential to developing curious, resilient, and engaged learners.
