SUPPORTING AND ADVANCING OUR COLLECTIVE INTERESTS

With access to collective knowledge, professional development and learning opportunities for both educators and students, our sum is much greater than our parts.

Please note that CIS Ontario is a membership association, not an accrediting body.

Many CIS Ontario member schools belong to the Canadian Accredited Independent Schools (CAIS) which is an accrediting body. A CIS Ontario school might also be affiliated with other independent school associations like the Canadian Council of Montessori Administrators (CCMA) or the National Coalition of Girls' Schools (NCGS).

There are a number of umbrella organizations serving independent schools in Ontario and each school determines which association will best serve its needs. There is no single body that represents all independent schools.

Your neighbourhood independent school might not belong to CIS Ontario because it belongs to another association, or it may not meet our membership requirements. For example, the school must have a Board of Directors to be eligible for membership in our organization.

You can view all of the CIS Ontario member schools on our Member School Directory page.

As a CIS Ontario member, we focus on delivering the networks and opportunities you need to best serve your students, helping you stay at the forefront of innovative program delivery.

CIS Ontario (The Conference of Independent Schools of Ontario) provides a collegial forum to promote excellence in education among our 47 member independent schools and their 27,000 students.

Are you an employee of one of our 47 member schools? If so, you are already a member of CIS Ontario and have access to our networking and professional development opportunities. Please see the Member Portal login page for more information.
