This registration process will likely take 20 minutes to complete. We recommend preparing your answers in another document before submitting them to this form.

*** At this time this PD opportunity is only open to CIS Ontario members schools and educators.

Welcome and thank you for expressing interest in joining Cohort 21. Its mission is to build a community of passionate CIS Ontario educators who are interested in refining and redesigning their practice through the exploration of new pedagogies, ideas and learning tools. This year we are excited to celebrate 10 years of professional learning and action with the launch of our 10th season. The last two school years have been unlike any other in the history of education. As educators we have experienced disruptive social, technological and pedagogical change at a pace and depth that we are only now starting to see and feel the impact of. With much of the same uncertainty still present for the coming academic year we need communities such a Cohort 21 to support one another as we all stand together supporting our schools and students. Professional learning communities like this one are now more important than ever. If you are looking for support, inspiration and a professional learning community to support you this year please take a moment to review this infographic before moving on with the registration process.

Cohort 21 is not your typical professional development. Being a member of Cohort 21 means committing to an eight month process of professional growth and inquiry. As a member:

  • You will be engaged in a highly personalized learning experience supported by an active community of educators
  • You will take part in four face to face sessions held at different locations (Virtual or Live)
  • You will participate on social media platforms (Twitter, your own Cohort 21 Blog)
  • You will use Design Thinking to support your Action Plan process
  • You will engage in your own personalized Action plan

It will be a transformative experience for you. Don't take our word for it, click here to hear from the Cohort 21 alumni who have gone through the program before you.

Committing to Cohort 21 - Season 10 (2021-2022) means committing to the following four face-to-face sessions (while we understand that your role at your school is the priority, we believe that with careful planning and collaboration, these dates should be non-negotiable for you and your curriculum leader. As much as possible, these sessions should take precedence over events that come up, such as coaching requirements).

Saturday, October 2
8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
ZOOM or Location TBA

Saturday, November 20
8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
ZOOM or Location TBA

Friday, January 14 OR Saturday, January 15
8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
ZOOM or Location TBA

Friday, April 8 OR Saturday, April 9
8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
ZOOM or Location TBA

***Please book these dates into your calendar now to ensure they do not conflict with other school events. Attendance at the face to face sessions are ESSENTIAL to maximizing your learning experience.

***The final dates for the last two sessions will be determined by the will of the group and/or possible locations if we can gather in-person. Only one of Friday or Saturday will be the final confirmed date. The ambiguity now is to allow some flexibility once the program gets underway and to allow for input from the participants.

Beyond just showing up physically; Cohort 21 is about committing to pushing your practice and professional thinking in new directions. It is about making the time to DO & TRY something new. It is about taking a risk and challenging your assumptions about teaching and learning. Cohort 21 is uniquely set up to support you in this process as a highly engaged team of CIS Ontario facilitators and coaches are available throughout the year to help support you in your Action Plan. All that we expect is that you bring with you a “Growth Mindset” and the willingness to trust the process. Committing to Cohort 21- Season 10 (2021-2022) also means committing to reflecting on your learning through your very own Cohort 21 blog, participating in regular Twitter Chats and supporting other Cohort 21 members through comments on their blogs between these face-to-face sessions.

By completing the form below you are agreeing to the above dates and expectations and have been approved by your Curriculum Leader and/or Head of School to join Cohort 21 for the 2021-2022 academic year. You and your direct supervisor also understand that the cost of this professional development is $900 which will be billed to your school in October 2021 by CIS Ontario.

As this program has a capacity limit registrations are not refundable.
