The YouBelong Summit is excited to announce their keynote speaker as Black Lives Matter Canada co-founder Sandy Hudson. Please join the Summit, online in February, for this incredible opportunity.
The Bishop Strachan School Student Diversity Leadership Council invites you to the first ever YouBelong Summit. This conference will be the first conference of its kind for students from grades 8-12 and will focus on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) in Canadian and international independent schools. The goal of YouBelong is to foster important discussions about identity and allyship, as well as strengthening inter-school relationships. YouBelong will be a space for learning and sharing. Our hope is that YouBelong participants will take what they experienced from this conference back to their independent schools, and apply it to build environments where students feel safe and wholeheartedly themselves.
In addition to our keynote speaker, we will be facilitating workshops on various DEIB topics. We hope this day will be a celebration of differences, and a unique learning opportunity to hear different perspectives and experiences from our Independent Schools. Given these uncertain times, students need to come together to have a safe and brave space to talk about these DEIB issues.
This conference will be taking place virtually on Friday, February 19, 2021. Registration is open and the deadline is February 5th.
Students are welcome to the opportunity to be a student facilitator at the YouBelong Summit. If you are interested, more information on the role of a student facilitator can be found here. The deadline to register as student facilitator has been extended to January 15th.
We hope that you will be able to join this important conference in the collective journey towards fostering diversity, learning, and change in our communities. If you have any questions about this event, please reach out to email@example.com at any time. You may also visit the YouBelong website.
