The inaugural Black Student Conference – Brilliancy and Resiliency – hosted by St. Michael's College School on April 28, 2023, brought together Black students and teachers from several CIS Ontario member schools. The conference aimed to focus on the Brilliancy and Resiliency of Black students and to provide a space for Black students to discuss important issues, build community, develop leadership skills, and network with one another.

The conference included workshops, two keynote speeches, and networking opportunities for students, teachers, and guest speakers. Workshops covered many topics by prominent Black leaders who shared their experiences and insights with attendees.

Daniel Lumsden, conference organizer and Community Engagement & Learning Lead, summarizes the Black Student Conference as a great success. He expects it to be an annual St. Michael's College School event moving forward.
