Dance Fest 2025 was a record-breaking celebration of movement, creativity, and collaboration. Held on February 20, 2025, at the studios of York University’s Faculty of Dance, this dynamic inter-school festival brought together an impressive 307 students from 16 CIS Ontario member schools. The excitement was palpable as students of all experience levels explored the world of dance in a professional and supportive setting.
The festival provided students from Grades 6 to 12—whether seasoned dancers or complete beginners—the opportunity to immerse themselves in a variety of dance styles. Participants selected three workshops led by top-tier dancers and choreographers, each designed to inspire, challenge, and refine their movement skills. The day culminated in a thrilling performance showcase featuring 12 schools presenting 21 captivating performances. This showcase not only highlighted the incredible talent within our CIS Ontario schools but also fostered a positive environment where students received strength-based feedback from industry professionals.
Beyond the technical instruction, Dance Fest encouraged students to deepen their appreciation for various dance techniques and gain valuable insights into the art form’s cultural and historical contexts. More importantly, it was an opportunity to connect, collaborate, and celebrate the power of dance as a form of expression.
With an engaged and enthusiastic audience, CIS Ontario Dance Fest 2025 was more than just a festival—it was a testament to the vibrancy of dance within our schools. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for next year’s Dance Fest!
