The Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) Ultimate Frisbee tournament, hosted by Lakefield College School on May 30th and 31st, was a resounding success. The event, graced by excellent weather conditions, saw high spirits and intense competition amongst the 16 participating teams, totalling over 400 athletes and coaches. Over 40 volunteers from LCS came together to pull off this event. The tournament, which saw 54 games take place over two days, was a trailblazer, with nearly every game being live-streamed, a first for an outdoor OFSAA event, showcasing the event's commitment to progress and innovation.
CISAA was well represented at the event, with Havercrest (Havergal College and Crescent School) securing the bronze medal. Their performance was a testament to their remarkable skill and determination, which they demonstrated throughout their matches. The host Lakefield College School also made a strong showing, finishing runner-up in the spirit point, a testament to their sportsmanship and team unity.
The event's highlight was undoubtedly Bowmanville, who emerged not only as the champions of the tournament but also claimed the title of spirit champions, showcasing exceptional sportsmanship and team unity that resonated with the true spirit of Ultimate Frisbee.
On Thursday evening, a BBQ banquet was held at the picturesque waterfront, adding a special touch to the festivities. Attendees enjoyed a variety of food and camp games and capped the evening off by roasting s'mores and eating ice cream.
The OFSAA Ultimate Frisbee tournament at Lakefield College School will be fondly remembered for its enthusiastic participants, flawless weather, and the commendable success of the schools, especially Bowmanville's dual victory.
