On January 19, 2023, KCS cut the ribbon at 2183 Lake Shore Blvd West, to officially open the
Grade 9-12 Senior School campus. At the event, Head of School, Derek Logan stated,
“Independent elementary school education came in 1989 to the west end of Toronto and
Etobicoke. It was time for an independent high school to follow. He went on to say “We opened
our doors to 50 students in Grades 1-5 in September 1989. Over the years, our school’s
population has grown to 398 students. Once the Senior School is at full capacity, we will have a
total student population of approximately 660 students across both campuses.”
Mr. Logan was joined by Board Chair, Tiffany Jay and the Head of Senior School, Andrea Fanjoy
to officially open the location that has been operating since September 2022 with students in
Grades 9 and 10. Ms. Jay thanked the many donors and volunteers who made this campus
possible stating that, “Launching a senior school has been a generational dream.” She further
remarked at “how amazing it is to see the dream realized and to be here in this beautiful,
innovative, and modern space for learning.”
A team of contractors and architects have been working for the past eight months non-stop to
build this state-of-art facility on two floors of a condominium located along the shore of the
Humber River, next to Lake Ontario, the Humber Bay Parks, and the Butterfly Habitat. The
location supports a distinct place-based learning program, where students not only learn within
the facility but also outside it, in the GTA and beyond. Ms. Fanjoy stated at the event, “This
Grand Opening is as much about our beautiful new facility as it is a celebration of what we’re
doing as a community within.”
